NEWS | Luke Cooper arrives on loan

The Dons are delighted to announce the loan signing of forward Luke Cooper from Betfred Championship side Featherstone Rovers.

The 28-year-old joins on an initial two-week deal, having made more than 150 appearances as a one-club man for Rovers so far in his career.

Cooper has been an integral part of a Featherstone side that has gone close to achieving promotion to Super League on several occasions, as well as winning the 1895 Cup in 2021.

He is eligible for the Dons’ Challenge Cup fourth round tie against London Broncos this weekend, having sat out his parent club’s defeat to Halifax Panthers in the previous round.

Head coach Richard Horne said: “He’s got a lot of experience in the Championship and has captained Featherstone for long periods too so he will be a good addition for us.

“The reason for bringing him in is to help drive those standards within the squad and keep the competition in the middle unit nice and healthy.

“He can come in and play straight away, it fits well for us and Luke given that he needs games and we wanted an extra body in there.

“We looked at trying to get him last year but the minute we went in he started playing every week so had no chance, but it’s good to be able to bring him to the club this time around.”
